Product Details

The convenience of an umbrella meets the control of a softbox. Built on an umbrella frame, the Apollo light modifiers set up in seconds. No additional parts and pieces to lug around as these units simply open up just like an umbrella and set up in seconds making them perfect for any on-location photographer. While most softboxes require expensive and heavy adapter rings to properly set up, these units simply fit into the umbrella receptacle found on virtually all style studio lights.

This mono version comes with an additional mounting arm allowing for access to mono light controls. (With the standard "non mono" version SKU 2334, the light head is fully enclosed inside of the Apollo light modifier). This Apollo modifier fits virtually all style studio lights. As an added bonus, a speedlite can be used with this unit through an optional 5015 Adjustable Shoe Mount Bracket and 9908 Light Stand.

A perfect main light or fill light, this unit measures 28" x 28" and provides 104-degrees of light spread allowing control of where exactly the light falls. Face the light forward through the white diffusion front for specular highlights. Specular highlights will provide a "hot spot" on your subject with a greater fall off from highlights to shadows. Diffusion fabrics are pure in color so the color temperature going into the fabric is the same color temperature coming back out. The large recessed edge provides even greater light control allowing feathering of light to see exactly where the light is starting and stopping.

The frame is constructed using fiberglass components, no metal or plastic to break.

The Functional Modifier

The Apollo softbox series takes both speedlites and strobes instantly. Mount the Halo and Apollo with any stand, bracket, or light head that features an umbrella receptacle. No speed or adapter rings are necessary. Face light source forward for specular highlights or backward for a soft illumination.

Complete Control

The Apollo and Halo are manufactured with a highly-reflective silver interior, providing an optimum light output. This light output can be precisely focused by the photographer. Place your speedlite or strobe as close or as far from the back of the Apollo as you see fit. Experiment with the placement of the diffusion panel or pick up a Triple Threat for multiple speedlite use. The Apollo gives you the ultimate control over your lighting.
