Product Details

Most softboxes require expensive and heavy adapter rings to properly set up. Built on an umbrella frame, these units simply pop open like an umbrella and fit into the umbrella receptacle found on virtually all style studio lights. The Halo light modifier is a perfect pair with speedlites offering soft box control with the set up ease of an umbrella. An optional 5015 Shoe Mount bracket is required to mount the speedlite and Halo onto a light stand with full tilting capability.

No need for an adapter ring as virtually all style studio lights come standard with an umbrella receptacle to attach the Halo light modifier. Perfect for photographing large groups or children, the Halo light modifiers offer over 140-degrees of light spread. You get the broad light source effect of an umbrella, while maintaining the light control of a softbox.

The light head is designed to fit inside of the Halo requiring less set up room. If you wish to maintain access to mono light controls and not have your light head fully enclosed, a mono version 2026 is available. Face the light forward through the white diffusion front for specular highlights. Specular highlights will provide a "hot spot" on your subject with a greater fall off from highlights to shadows. For a softer and more even light, face the light head towards the back of the Halo light modifier and enjoy less than 1/2-stop light loss from center to edge. This will result in your subject being very evenly light with just a gradual fall off from highlight to shadow. This is the same effect as using a softbox with the internal baffle and outer diffusion panel both in place.

The frame is constructed using all metal components, no plastic to break.

The Ultimate in Convenience

These modifiers, unlike other softboxes, are constructed with an umbrella-style frame, allowing for the quickest assembly and disassembly possible. Utilizing fiberglass frames, they are both durable and extremely lightweight for effortless portability.

25 Years in the Making

First developed over 25 years ago, the Apollo is consistently improved with current technology and materials, all based on consumer input and requests. The latest Apollo design features a recessed edge for the ultimate light control, a flexible fiberglass frame, and a removable outer diffusion panel.

The Functional Modifier

The Apollo softbox series takes both speedlites and strobes instantly. Mount the Halo and Apollo with any stand, bracket, or light head that features an umbrella receptacle. No speed or adapter rings are necessary. Face light source forward for specular highlights or backward for a soft illumination.

Complete Control

The Apollo and Halo are manufactured with a highly-reflective silver interior, providing an optimum light output. This light output can be precisely focused by the photographer. Place your speedlite or strobe as close or as far from the back of the Apollo as you see fit. Experiment with the placement of the diffusion panel or pick up a Triple Threat for multiple speedlite use. The Apollo gives you the ultimate control over your lighting.
