Green screen wall mounting hooks
04/12/10 7:26 PM

The background hooks listed on the Accessories page on PhotoBasics.net are medium Command hooks, which are rated to hold up to 3 lbs. Can these be used for the 10'x9' green screen, or are they intended for the 5'x7' green screen? 3M also makes Command hooks in a large size that's rated to hold up to 5 lbs, and I was wondering if those would be more suitable for the 10'x9' greenscreen.

Also, two of the grommets on my greenscreen are sewn right at the very edge of the fabric. One even extends a little beyond the edge of the fabric. I'm concerned that these may tear when hanging the greenscreen from them. Has anybody else had problems with the grommets being too close to the edge of the fabric?

The 3M hooks will work just fine. I have used them for the 9x10 green screen several times with no issues.
I wouldn't worry about it being too close to the edge. If you have any problem with your grommet we will replace it within the warranty period (1 year)

Thank you, John. What I was wondering about the 3M Command hooks is which size to use for a 9'x10' green screen? The 3M Command hooks FAQ says:

"Q: Can I use more than one hook if I want to hang an item that's heavier then the weight listed on the package?
A: No. We don't recommend it."

The Medium command hooks are rated for a maximum of 3 lbs, and the green screen is about 3 lbs, 10 oz. But the Large Command hooks have a wider hook, and I'm not sure if it will fit through the grommets securely.

Which size Command hooks do you use/recommend for a 9'x10' green screen?
Thanks!

I would recommend using the 3M hooks that can hold up to 5lbs. http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/757284/3M-Large-Utility-Hook-With-Command/?cm_mmc=Mercent-_-Google-_-Office_Furnishings-_-757284

Hope this helps!
