Featuring a durable aluminum frame and highly-reflective silver surface, the Eyelighter produces a pristine reflection and a beautiful catchlight for professional portraiture. Now, portrait photographers can obtain clamshell lighting with a natural looking reflection. The Eyelighter is the Triflector, reinvented.
After opening his first family-operated photography studio in 1974, Ohio-based photographer Larry Peters became a leading professional in the senior portrait industry. Larry sought to perfect the art of portrait lighting by designing the patented Eyelighter.
Larry shared his knowledge in workshops and seminars throughout his career, leading to high exposure and demand for his unique reflector. After years of building the product in his garage, Larry partnered with us in 2014. Together we perfected the Eyelighter and made it readily available for photographers around the world.
This arc-shaped reflector was inspired by the unique curvature of the human eye. Specifically designed for beauty and portrait photography, The Eyelighter reflects an arched light toward your subject, leaving a catchlight that follows the natural curve of the iris. Unlike triflectors, this catchlight is seamless, without unflattering gaps. This detailed reflection unique to the Eyelighter and is obtainable without handheld reflectors or multiple light setups.
The Eyelighter frame is constructed with strong aluminum allowing for lightweight durability. In true Westcott fashion, only the finest reflective fabric is incorporated in this reflector. Tension rods are utilized to pull this material taut, maximizing the light casted.
The Eyelighter collapses down to only 36” and quickly stores in the included carry case for travel to on-location shoots and storage.
I learned about the Eyelighter from watching a YouTube video from Jason Lanier. Just seeing the results he was getting from the Eyelighter I began looking for other videos on its use. I was sold. When I came across the special offer from Wescott I jumped on it and ordered. I have found it to do everything I saw in Jason's videos. I am very happy with the Eyelighter and the quality of this product. My only issue was that the two bolts on the center support did not match up to the frame and I needed to bend the bolts to make it a easy assembly in the future . I do recommend the Westcott Eyelighter to anyone looking to enhance there portraits. DW
I've been thinking about investing in the Eyelighter for headshots for a while when I saw it at a discount with the free white fabric on one of the online retailers. I ordered it but unfortunately they informed me it was on backorder a couple of days later. I was pleased to see I could order it direct from Westcott but was a little disappointed I didn't think it would arrive in time for me to use with a client later the same week. I called up Westcott's customer service and they were extremely helpful and ensured it shipped same day so it would be there for my scheduled shoot. Great customer service!
The new white panel is fantastic and creates a soft beautiful fill and defines the eyes beautifully.
I was interested in this reflector because how it shape the face and the eye, but hesitant to purchase because of price. As of now I'm so happy that I made the purchase. I have had other photographers looked at my head shots and wonder what lighting that I was using. The Eye Lighter is a tool that will make your clients images come to life, but most of all it will bring more production value to your studio head shots.
After using this in the studio I love how it highlights the models neck line and gives her eyes a beautiful sparkle. Overall it does what it advertised for glad I made the purchase.
Wish I would have known about this sooner. A must for head shots!
