Designed by internationally-acclaimed photographer and educator Kevin Kubota, the LunaGrip is a one-of-a-kinda speedlight handle that allows for instant and portable speedlight modification. The LunaGrip pairs virtually any speedlight with standard reflectors or diffusion discs on a single, lightweight handle.
The LunaGrip can mount any diffusion disc sized from 20" to 42". This speedlight modifier creates a stunning, ultra-soft output and an ideal round catchlight in the eyes of your subject. The LunaGrip can be purchased separately or in a complete kit with Westcott's 5-in-1 Reflector and 1-stop diffusion disc.
Inspired by his father’s interest in photography, Kevin Kubota took up the art of portraiture over 30 years ago and has since won a variety of industry awards. This Hawaii-raised, Oregon-based photographer shares his experiences with budding photographers around the world through interactive, in-depth, and award-winning workshops. In 2015, Kevin designed the LunaGrip to further assist photographers in capturing awesome images.
The LunaGrip features an adjustable shoe-mount bracket, easy-to-grip handle, and three collapsible grip arms. Its super-durable construction is surprisingly lightweight, allowing for effortless handheld operation.
The LunaGrip's unique handle acts as an easy-to-use mounting system for reflectors. The LunaGrip's built-in 1/4" #20 threads allow for mounting on light stands or tilter brackets.
Westcott Basics 5-in-1 Reflector Kits are a must-have light control tool for photography enthusiasts. With a traditional round design, a 1-stop diffusion panel, and a removable 4-surface cover, this reflector kit is ready to take on whatever lighting you encounter.
I use it for senior photos now rather than softboxes. It is much easier for an assistant to manage, weight is not an issue and it works with my larger Nikon SB-900 flashes. The effect is manageable as well. I control the power easily with PocketWizards so the power does not overwhelm. I bought a second one which rounds out what I need when doing portraits on location or studio. I would buy again without hesitation. I have used the prominent portable foldable softboxes by a well known company and found them to suffer over time from being folded. So, the LunaGrip is my solution! I first learned of it by watching various videos by Kevin Kubota. I am glad that I did.
I use the Luna In Studio and on location. I achieve the quality of light i like. Its portable, compact and very easy to setup. Felicia Rule
I love Kevin's LunaGrip and I take it with me everywhere. For my portrait work, it solved a problem that photographers like myself have struggled with for decades: getting the lighting they need on location. With the LunaGrip, I no longer have to worry about lugging around clumsy softboxes, power supplies, cords, and wires. Now, I can take a model to virtually any location and all I have to bring is my camera, the LunaGrip, and a wireless transmitter or two. I love how easy the LunaGrip is to set up, how versatile it has proven to be, and how affordable it is for what it offers. This is a must have tool for any portrait photographer.
“I always keep this in my camera bag as a versatile tool for beautiful light anywhere. It functions as a large flash diffuser as well as a perfectly flat reflector holder. It's amazing the variety of looks I can create with just two of these devices and one speedlight.”
