Pairing high-end fabrics with a quick-collapse frame, our Rapid Box modifier series will give you the professional results that you want without the tedious setup.
We purposely designed the Rapid Box with an external cold shoe speedlight mount. By keeping your speedlight outside of the softbox, you can quickly access controls and utilize the IR line-of-sight (or infrared wireless) functionality commonly found in speedlights. Of course, radio triggers can be used as well.
The Rapid Box's versatile mounting bracket features an adjustable height and depth for use with virtually any shoe-mount speedlites or off-camera flash units. This bracket includes a built-in tilting function for precise positioning and a standard light stand receptacle.
Constructed with solid aluminum umbrella-inspired framework, the Rapid Box's design maximizes durability, minimizes weight, eliminates the need for separate support rods, and makes setup a breeze. Everything is simple, quick, and compact. After your shoot, the Rapid Box breaks down instantly into a sleek carry case for travel and storage.
Our diffusion panels are constructed with an all-natural, unbleached nylon fabric. Unlike processed diffusion fabrics, these diffusers will soften your light source without altering its color temperature.
I took it out on a wedding shoot shortly after receiving it and it was great. I like the ease of set up and breakdown, and it provided great lighting on all the shots I used it for. Very portable, perfect for on-location shooting.
I love my Octabox. I have the 26" octabox for speedlites, deflector plate, and grid. I do wish they offered a 10 or 20 degree grid option instead of only a 40 degree grid. Hope you're listening, Westcott! If you had a 10 or 20 degree grid option, I'd buy it!
I started using this product the day it arrived. The quality of the light and the portability of it makes it the ideal soft light box. It's small enough big still big enough to enhance your wedding photographs of the bride and groom which is what I intend to use it mainly for. In my opinion it's the perfect one light for indoor on-location shoots and it's certainly at home in studio use too where the use of speed-lights are used.
“If you’re looking for good quality, easy to set up and use softboxes for travel, I can’t recommend the Rapid Box line enough.”

“The legendary lighting brand, probably best known for their solid Apollo Orb softboxes, has a slimmed down lighting solution known as the Westcott Rapid Box series. Available as an octabox, strip light, or the mega 32-inch octabox duo, the members of the Rapid Box series are solidly built, very compact, and compatible with most speedlight flash units.”
Suzi Pratt, Digital Photography School
“I have to say that I love it. I’ve been looking for a simple speed light setup and I think I’ve found it. I simply attach it to my SB-910 and I have a traveling soft box. The bonus with the Rapid Box is that I can take off the front diffuser and I have a portable beauty dish. I highly recommend getting one.”
Andrew Funderburg, Fundy Designer Blog
“The Westcott Rapid Box comes with this carrying case, so it folds up like an umbrella, slides in here, and it's lightweight and portable. I highly recommend the Westcott Rapid Box line.”

“Traveling light is becoming a priority for me with my camera gear, particularly once you realize how much difference good equipment makes to an image. With the Westcott Rapid Box Softbox, I was able to get the best of both worlds: a soft fill light for portraits which is lightweight and easy to carry.”
Wendy G. Gunderson, My Irie Time Blog
“When I first unboxed it I was very surprised at how high quality and solid this little thing is. I'm still amazed by it. Usually inexpensive umbrellas are super flimsy and cheap feeling. Not this sucker.”

“The Westcott Rapid Box Octa Softbox is a very versatile light modifier for an off-camera speedlight. The ease of setting it up, and that is so portable, and being light-weight yet sturdy, all means this is going to be the softbox I use for my flash photography workshops in future. Oh, and as light modifiers go, it is quite affordable.”

“Since this whole strobist thing began, photographers have wanted small softboxes that are collapsible and have a great output. Who better to do that than that Westcott? Their Apollo Orb softboxes are legendary.”
Chris Gampant, The Phoblographer
“Travelling with the Westcott Rapid Box Octa was a total joy. It weighed next to nothing and thanks to natty design touches such as the folding arm, it fitted in to a tiny bag that slid inside my light stand bag.”
Gavin Hoey, GavTrain Blog
“One of the best, portable softboxes I have found is the Westcott RapidBox series. The Rapid Box is a pop-up umbrella-style soft box, but unlike cheaper boxes, the durability and build-quality is high end. There’s excellent light efficiency with these boxes as well, and with the optional beauty dish reflector that screws into the center, you also have a great on-location beauty dish option.”
